Since our beginnings in 1991, generous donors have helped SSIHC to grow and become an effective provider of affordable housing and support services to families and individuals who are homeless in Montgomery County. You can make a real difference by donating now:

$50 will help to provide school supplies

$100 will help to send a child to camp or to an afterschool program

$200 will help a resident purchase a work uniform and other employment related supplies

$500 will help pay for job skills training for a resident to increase their income

There are many convenient ways to make a tax-deductible donation to SSIHC.

Help a Child Prepare for School

SSIHC families arrive in our program throughout the year. This means children must prepare to enter a new school. Please consider donating new school supplies such as:

  • backpacks
  • pencils, pencil cases, pencil sharpeners
  • notebooks and paper
  • crayons, markers, etc.
  • calculators

Help a Family Care for their New Home

SSIHC families often enter our programs with major debt, poor credit and very low income. You can help them by donating common household cleaning products such as:

  • laundry detergent and bleach
  • sponges, mops and buckets, other cleaning supplies and sprays
  • paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
  • and more based on individual needs

Help SSIHC cut Operating Costs

SSIHC maintains a very low overhead to program investment ratio. You can help reduce our costs even more by donating office supplies and operating necessities such as:

  • high quality laser printer paper
  • multiuse copier/printer paper
  • letter and legal size Pendaflex files
  • 3 cut tabbed manila file folders
  • 1/2" view binders
  • refillable, retractable gel pens and refills, etc

House Pins

Besides owning an individually designed and handcrafted piece of wearable art, through their purchase you make a contribution to resolving homelessness. House Pins are designed and crafted by Lucinda Yates to raise money and awareness of homelessness. Today, sales of House Pins support housing programs across the country, including SSIHC.
